Church Green Trust is in the heart of the village near the Whalebone crossroads, established in the early 1980s after a generous donation of land and outbuildings from the Fingringhoe Hall estate. It comprises of eight properties providing independent living accommodation for the over 60s plus community facilities set in The Courtyard such as our local Post Office, book exchange and coffee mornings.
The properties are managed by a charitable trust formed of volunteer Trustees. They are an enthusiastic group of people, all living in or close to the village, offering a range of skill sets from a wide range of backgrounds. Volunteers are always welcome – either to join the board of Trustee’s or to help out more generally as ‘Friends of Church Green’
More information on the Trust can be found here - https://www.churchgreentrust.co.uk, or contact Kate Allsopp (Secretary) on 07521136653 or email secretary.cgt@gmail.com.

A new season starts in April for the Wivenhoe, Fingringhoe and Rowhedge Ferry. On most weekends from April 7th to end of October the foot ferry runs between the villages of Wivenhoe, Fingringhoe and Rowhedge. It runs roughly an hour and half either side of high tide.
The stops can be found on the floating pontoon at Lion’s Quay in Rowhedge, opposite the Royal British Legion in Wivenhoe and at the end of Ferry Road (or just to the right by the pillbox) in Fingringhoe. The Fingringhoe stop is by request only and at skippers discretion depending on the water. Just give the ferry a shout from the riverbank or use the phone number on the noticeboard by the stop. Timetables can be found on the website and village noticeboards.
The fares are £1.50 each way with under 5s and dogs travelling for free. Bikes can travel for £2 each way.
The ferry is a lovely way to visit these three charming villages on the River Colne.
